Employer’s attitude worsens migraine attack for victims
Nearly one out of three victims of migraine believes their employers do not clearly understand their sickness.
Nearly 50% of them felt they were treated unfairly over the leave they took over sickness. Mainly the support from their bosses and colleagues was clearly missing.

Hannah Verghese, of the Migraine Trust, which commissioned the survey, said: ‘Many employers are failing to recognize the severity of the condition or make appropriate adjustments for employees with migraine. Sufferers are too often put at a disadvantage in the workplace. They are penalised by harsh sickness absence policies and unaware of their rights, many try to cover up their condition and do not ask for support for fear of being stigmatised. Employers need to be aware of the disabling impact of the condition and provide support and fair treatment for migraine sufferers at work.’

World health organization has included Migraine among the top 20 most disabling lifetime conditions.

Migraines are severe headaches which cam also cause nausea and visual disturbances,  and takes nearly three days  for an episode to be through. Stress happens to be the most common trigger for migraines.
